SEAN TOULON
Sean and his teams created some of the most iconic golf clubs in the game, and his name can be found on well over 100 patents. With a long, successful career at TaylorMade — where sales grew from $270MM to nearly S1.8B annually during his tenure — Sean led teams that created products including:
- TaylorMade 300 Series woods and irons
- 500 Series woods
- Reincarnation of the TP franchise, including the famous R510TP and TP forged irons
- R7 Quad (the first driver with movable weights)
- Burner Series of woods and Irons
- The R9 (the first driver with removable shafts)
- R11 driver
- The Spider putter
- M1 and M2 drivers
After retiring from TaylorMade in 2015, Sean founded Toulon Design later that year with two of his sons, Tony and Joe.
Toulon Design quickly became recognized as one of the premier milled putter makers in the world. Toulon Design putters have been used to win more than 50 times on major global tours, and have become the second-most used milled putter in professional golf around the world.In 2016 Toulon was acquired by Callaway Golf and became the high-end milled putter offering of Odyssey Golf.
While at Callaway, Sean led both the Callaway industrial design team and was the GM of Odyssey. During his tenure of seven years, both brands grew to record results, and flourished in usage by some of the game’s greats.
In July of 2023, Sean retired from Callaway to co-found Toulon Golf (in partnership with Callaway Golf) with his son Tony, and close friend and industry stalwart Toru Kamatari.
TONY TOULON
Born just outside of Milwaukee, Tony’s family moved to Vista, California when his father followed his dream career in golf.
Tony picked up the game at a very young age, and became an accomplished player, culminating in a four-year Division I collegiate career at the University of San Francisco.
Following graduation, Tony began his career in marketing. After several years learning and building his knowledge of marketing in a new and quickly changing digital world, Tony approached his father about starting a family business that would bear the family name. Toulon Design was born, utilizing Tony’s eye for product, and connecting the new brand with golfers worldwide, Toulon Design quickly established itself as one of the premier milled putter brands in the game. Now, after more than six years at Odyssey Golf, he has returned his focus to Toulon Golf. As a co-founder of Toulon Golf, Tony will help drive the product direction, design, sales and marketing efforts, with a special focus on the US market.
TORU KAMATARI
Toru Kamatari is a respected leader and a driving force in the golf industry.
As a highly successful entrepreneur that has worked for equipment companies and built them into successful brands, he’s also helped build retailers into leaders in their markets. Toru was instrumental in launching and building the Scotty Cameron, Bettinardi and Toulon Design brands in Asia.
Toru's expertise also reaches into product design and development, as well as a deep understanding of the golfer. Utilizing these assets, he has also played a vital role in the creation of many successful products, specifically throughout Asia.
As a co-founder of Toulon Golf, Toru will help drive the product direction, design, sales and marketing efforts, with a special focus on the Asian markets.
PRESTON TOULON
Preston was born in Oceanside, California and is the youngest of the three Toulon boys. He attended the University of Oregon and his first job out of college was working in Minor League Baseball for a team called the Hillsboro Hops, located just outside of Portland, Oregon. Preston worked there from 2014 to 2018 when he moved back to Vista, California.
Preston began his journey in the golf industry with Honma Golf. In his three years there he grew from Product Coordinator to Global Product Manager and was part of the team overseeing all product creation and product marketing. After three years at Honma Golf, he moved to Mitsubishi Golf to oversee Marketing and Communications. He spent three years at Mitsubishi where he led all day-to-day marketing, branding, industrial design and public relations. At the end of 2023 he left Mitsubishi to join the Toulon business.
