On the cliffs above the sparkling Pacific Ocean, about 10 miles north of San Diego, rests a small town named La Jolla. Spanish for 'The Jewel', its beauty is not easily described. Rugged cliffs meet the water while the twinkling lights of the city beckon from the south. To the west, an endless horizon and some of the most beautiful sunsets in the world.
Resting above the ocean and abutting the magnificent cliffs lies one of the most challenging golf courses in the world, Torrey Pines. Accessible to all and difficult for all, Torrey has played host to the PGA Tour for over 50 years. More recently, it has also become a favorite stop for the USGA, playing host to the classic US Opens of 2008 and 2021.
